Fright Night Recap
Our very first Fright Night Event at Lakeside went swimmingly, in what turned out to be the last dance for the 2020 season as the news broke on the 31st October that England would be heading into a second national Lockdown.
With the rain and wind howling down for most of the afternoon, the team were relieved when the skies cleared, wind dropped and sun began to set over Alexandra Lake. It made the final swim of the season feel ever more cherished. It was also the first full moon we have had on 31st October since 1974. The stage was set, Fright Night was go!
It was great fun for all our team that embarrassed the Halloween spirit fully, it was quite the sight seeing swimmers out on the water with illuminated tow buoys that looked like Chinese lanterns gliding on the water. The water was fresh but refreshing at 13c an our new watersports centre provided hot showers for our swimmers and they were welcomed out the water with a hot drink.
We are so pleased with how our first night swim event was received, we are planning on hosting monthly events like this in the 2021 swim calendar. On behalf of all the Swim Lakeside team, thank you to all that took part and that have joined us over the 2020 season. Stay safe, stay well and we're looking forward to welcoming you all back in the spring!
